It all started in January of 2014, when I moved from New York City to New Hampshire. I had just gotten into crocheting and I found a way to create a patterned scarf with one variegated skein of yarn (which you might call yarn pooling nowadays, but I had no idea about any of that until maybe 2017). I was so excited with what I made and had so much faith in myself that I could create more cool crocheted items, so I decided then and there that I needed to share it with the world.
I decided to create a blog, but I knew that it wouldn't just be about crocheting, so I decided to make it a play on my name: TheSamAntics.com. I posted my scarf pattern and soon added others. Being that my boyfriend and I are comic book lovers, I wanted to create a Batman blanket for our bed, but I couldn't find any patterns. I decided to create my own pattern and it worked out great! I soon created more superhero crochet patterns and recorded video tutorials for them at YouTube.com/SamsAntics.
While I really enjoyed creating the superhero patterns, they couldn't pay the bills, since I was using copyrighted and trademarked material. In May of 2014, I created TheSamAntics.etsy.com, where I would sell some of my crocheted items. I soon learned how to create various types of items, such as vinyl car decals and t-shirts, and I began to create t-shirts and decals FOR crocheters (among others).
Being a women of many interests, TheSamAntics.etsy.com became a shop with many different themes. It took almost six years, but it finally came to the point where the shop just seemed to have too many random items in it and the crochet patterns were just going to get lost. Since I was creating items FOR crocheters, I decided to create Yarntrepreneurship.etsy.com, a resource for crocheters themselves and for people who need gifts for crochet addicts.
If you're a crocheter or you're looking for a gift for one, just know that the items in this shop are themselves made by a crocheter, so you know the process involved a lot of yarn-barf!
